Irish, good luck with the new job! When my kids were little, I got into the habit of getting up at 5 AM to read the paper, have coffee, do the Crytoquote and just have a quiet focused start to the day. Then it was the only hour of "my" time. I have much more "my" time now, but still wake up early.

Terri, no guilt allowed at MRMR. Like you don't do enough stuff!

Like Ely, I put off getting out of bed as long as possible. It's amazing how much I can rationalize when I don't want to do something. LOL!

I have exactly enough time in the mornings to shower, wake up kiddo, get ready for work and run out the door (dropping kiddo at school on my way to work). Then I pretty much blow off the rest of the day. Check email and blogs when I get to work. Do actually work every now and then. I lack discipline big time!

I have no writing time scheduled which is why I feel guilty most of the time. I have the time, I just don't use it. *hangs head in shame* I'm such a loser. LOL!

I am NOT a morning person. I'm trying but it's an uphill battle. I'm up at 6 am to get the kiddies up for school and let the dogs out. After they leave at around 7:10, I check-in online. If I've had a good night sleep and don't feel the need to go back to bed for another couple of hours I start my day. Shower, breakfast, laundry, dishes, shopping, and of course avoiding all of the above by playing on the computer or reading! LOL

My best time to write is in the middle of the day when the kids and husband are away!!! Although, I just applied for a job as a clerical sub at the schools in the area so my whole routine may change on a day to day basis.

I start around then too, Maggie. But I have to leave the house by seven to get to work.

I make coffee (usually my first drink of the day, after that I switch to tea) make brekky, usually poppyseed bagel with honey or cornflakes.

sit down, check millions of emails. Check VV, and other blogs of the day. Then realize it's half past six and wake up the kids go get dressed, brush teeth, straighten hair, take out dog, tug at his leash while he sniffs the same spot he sniffed yesterday morning for five minutes, go back upstairs say bye to kids, hugs kisses, wake up hubby, leave the door with iPod in one hand, book in another. Then I get to tune the world out for at least another 45 minutes, until I get to work. :)

If I'm writing I write any time of day. But prefer getting up around four to do it whe nI'm really on a roll.

JK, despite the fact I'm up, I'm not a morning person either. Don't talk to me or interrupt me in my routine! And don't expect a hot breakfast. I am such a b*tch.

Bernard, right now I'm just getting over a boring stretch in my WIP, and grinding out the words was hard. I mean, there has to be some plot along with the sex. *g*

Ely, I know you stay up all night and write. I get progressively more stupid after 9 PM, LOL.

Janga, I can't remember the last time I slept late. But I used to be able to jump right out of bed if I did and get to work (I used to get to work at 7:15). I can't do that anymore. I read somewhere if we were meant to pop out of bed we'd all sleep in toasters.

Kelly, believe me, I go through a sinking spell in the afternoon. The clock crawls from 3 to 5. My energy level is pretty low and it's hard to summon the will to write.

I'm an owl by nature too. Since I'm no longer teaching, I sleep until 8 or 9--sometimes later--when I can. :) My most productive writing hours, if I don't have to be up early, are midnight until . . . It's a time wonderfully free of phone calls, family conversations, and other interruptions. But if I have a meeting or the grands are here for the day, it's back to a lark's schedule and fitting the writing in when and if I can.

I write at afternoon or night---but mostly right after dinner thing. I am not a morning person, and will put off getting out of bed until the latest possible minute. The only way I do write in the morning is if I pulled an all nighter, and I'm getting way too old to do that. LOL

I write any time of day. Though, since I'm a night owl, I tend to wind up writing at night most times.
Gosh, Maggie, you are a marvel.:) I couldn't do what you do AND work a job.

Maggie, I can't believe you can get out of bed that early. Even on a day when I have to be at work for 8:30 I don't get out of bed before 7:00 (and I have a 5 year-old). It's just not possible for me. My husband has had to adjust to the fact that he doesn't have a wife before 9:00 am because even when I do get up at 7:00 I don't make breakfast, lunches, or do anything but shower and dress. Thankfully, he doesn't mind getting the kiddo ready for school.

I know, pathetic, right?
