Wrap It Up

Yippee! Any Wicked Thing is predominantly finished. What does that mean, you say? It means that when I first started to write the book in May, I began each chapter with brief diary entries written by Sebastian Goddard, the Duke of Roxbury and Frederica Wells. Somewhere in the middle of the book, those diary entries disappeared. My dilemma now: do I add the missing ones, or delete the written ones? Time (and my crit partners) will tell. I’m going to step away for a short while and then revisit that remote Yorkshire castle to make sure all the loose ends are securely tied up. Then it will be back to my storm-tossed Scottish island and Master of Sin!

Cover Quote

“MISTRESS BY MISTAKE sizzles off the page. A marvelously sexy romp. ~the fabulous Anna Campbell

Thanks so much, Anna, for taking the time to read MBM. I can’t wait for November’s Captive of Sin, which I am quite sure will sizzle too!

The End is Nigh

Over 85,000 words now on Any Wicked Thing. I have two more chapters to write from scratch and three scenes to finish. The ending is tied up with a big, wet sloppy bow already—I got a little weepy writing it, because I love love love Sebastian and Freddie (mostly Sebastian, LOL).

And here’s another one of my LOLRegencies.

Zombies? Zounds!

Elizabeth vs Darcy: She certainly did not hate him. No; hatred had vanished long ago, and she had almost as long been ashamed of ever wishing to drink the blood of his severed head.
True love, yes?
Over 80,000 words on Any Wicked Thing! But I’m not drinking blood from severed heads to celebrate yet.

Back to School

I celebrated by watching Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall. While my school is nothing like the gray, dismal place depicted (and as far as I know, we do not grind up kids for burgers), I do question at times the efficacy of public education. It certainly hasn’t seemed to work on a lot of adults I encounter. ;)

So it’s back to waking up at the crack of dawn to write before work. 15,000 words to go!

What’s Wrong with This Picture?

Nothing! But I did go slightly crazy when I discovered that Susan Gee Heino’s debut Regency Mistress by Mistake is coming out in December 2009 from Berkley. My debut Regency Mistress by Mistake is coming out in May 2010 from Kensington. I e-mailed Susan and she’s lovely. Her book won the 2008 Golden Heart when it was Mistaken by Moonlight (also a great title*g*). So—2 books, 2 authors, 1 title, 5 months apart. My editor says stuff happens like this all the time. She told me to breathe (sensible advice). So I hope everybody buys both books and loves them!

Isn’t this a beautiful cover? I’ll post mine when I get it. :)

Goals, Goals, Goals

So I’m liking my mini-blogs. They’ve been very liberating, and I don’t have to drone on about drone-able subjects. Since school has started, I’m even more goal-oriented. I’m hard at work on Any Wicked Thing and hope to have it finished by mid-October at the latest. 23,000 words to go.

Some months ago, the clever ladies at Risky Regencies sponsored a contest. One had to find a suitably vintage picture and caption it in the manner of LOLCats. I entered a bunch of them, and I won, but not with this particular illustration, although it is my favorite. It works very well for AWT. :) Check back here for my other entries in the upcoming weeks for your amusement.
